Minimalism, National Theatre, Čapek and Wilson

Star cast, minimalist scene, Čapek's never aging "Věc Makropulos"(The Makropoulos Case)- all brought by Robert Wilson on the stage of National Theatre.

I realized I have  actually never been to any Čapek's drama. I red some and, of course, studied some of his work. I truly admire his novel thinking. Though I consider him as the best Czech dramatic and writer, I've never been to any of his plays.I wonder if it was really good way to start with Wilson's interpretation. Although it bears name Čapek, on posters they should use it only with small letters next to name Robert Wilson who directed and designed the play. So much the dialoges itself are condensed.

Věc Makropulos

There are almost none properties. The scene is only sketched in your head. Although it is very serious topic, and seriously brought, you will laugh quite often. Well, there is my favourit Miroslav Donutil and Václav Postránecký. Indeed star cast. It is the first time I see really good actors in such modern play. Everything is moving and vibrating.

I loved it, particularly with live music, beautiful scenes and good actors, it was very strong experience.

By the way the performance is accompanied with English subtitles and tickets are very cheap. I really recommed to spend a bit more to sit in the bottom auditorium as the very important part are mimics.
